The scientific notation is 1.29*10^3. In order to be in scientific notation, it must be a number less than ten but more than .99,  times ten to the power of how many decimal places the decimal moved to make the original number into a number less than 10. The decimal moved 3 spaces to the left so the power is 10^3.
