The Treaty of Versailles was then signed right after the end of the first world war. Germany thought that the treaty was very unfair for them because it just suffered huge territorial losses after the war. Poland acquired parts of West Prussia while the Rheinland was demilitarised meaning there would be no German fortifications present there.
