A road has an incline of 10°. To the nearest foot, find the increase in altitude of a car after driving 4,000 feet along the road.

sinα=a/d, α=incline angle, a=altitude, d=distance along road so:

a=dsinα, we are told that α=10°, d=4000 

a=4000sin10 ft

a≈694.6 ft  (to nearest tenth of a foot)
