What are the major political parties, and how do they differ?

The major political parties are the Republicans and the Democrats. The Republican party feels that the United States government should be economically hands off and that the country should learn to prosper on its own and that states should have a majority of the power. Democrats believe that the government should have a say so in what happens economically and that the government system should be controlled at the base which is federally.
