3.5x-10>-3  add 10 to both sides

3.5x>7  divide both sides by 3.5

x>2

... now for the other inequality:

8x-9<39  add 9 to both sides

8x<48  divide both sides by 3

x<6

So we have x>2 and x<6, so the compound inequality is:

2<x<6  and this means that the solution set is:

x=(2, 6)

3.5x - 10 > - 3
3.5x > 7
x > 2

8x - 9 < 39
8x < 48
x < 6

x > 2 and x < 6
