The appropriate response is black power. Stokely Carmichael was a U.S. social liberties extremist who in the 1960s began the dark patriot energizing motto, "black power." Born in Trinidad, he moved to New York City in 1952. He joined the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and was imprisoned for his work with Freedom Riders.
