An organism that carries and transmits pathogens to humans or other animal is called a vector. A vector does not cause diseases but it helps to transfer disease-causing agents from one animal or human to another, thus spreading infection. For instance, mosquito is the vector for spreading plasmodium parasite which causes malaria in Africa.
