The physiologic condition which the client have is rheumatoid arthritis. 
ARTHROPLASTY is the surgical reconstruction of a joint.
Isometric exercises are usually prescribe to clients after the procedure of arthroplasty in order to strengthened the muscles of the leg. Isometric exercises strengthened the muscles but keep the joint stationary during the healing process.
