slope = (7 - 1) / (1 - (-2) = 6/3 = 2

as for the point slope form, there can be 2 answers to this...

y - y1 = m(x - x1)
slope(m) = 2
using points (-2,1).....x1 = -2 and y1 = 1
now we sub
y - 1 = 2(x - (-2) =
y - 1 = 2(x + 2) <=== here is one of them

y - y1 = m(x - x1)
slope(m) = 2
using points (1,7)....x1 = 1 and y1 = 7
now we sub
y - 7 = 2(x - 1) <=== here is the other one
