Why is understanding diversity an important part of understanding citizenship?

Because Diversity is all around us, so we must grow and adapt to the vast amount of diverse people around us. We cannot treat someone unfairly simply because they have different races, beliefs, or ethnicity.
On top of that, United States is built by various people from different backgrounds. So, it is important to understand that united states became the super power like we see today thanks to diverse group of people.
