What was a basic difference in the beliefs of the Federalists and the Democratic-Republicans?

The FEDERALISTS believed in a strong central government that the educated should lead. They believed were that the constitution  shared the power between the federal government and the states.
The DEMOCRATIC REPUBLICANS believed in strict interpretation of the constitution, limited central government, and small national military.
