Find the equation of the line that passes through the point (1, 3) and is parallel to the line y=2x+6

line y=2x+6
     slope m = 2
parallel lines have same slope so new line has slope also 2

passing thru (1,3)
y = mx + b
3 = 2(1) + b
b = 1

equation
y = 2x + 1
