We can simplify by removing factors from the square root.

[tex] \sqrt{176} [/tex]

[tex] \sqrt{4*44} [/tex]

[tex] 2 \sqrt{44} [/tex]

[tex] 2 \sqrt{4*11} [/tex]

[tex] 4 \sqrt{11} [/tex]

As 11 has no perfect-square factors, we have simplified the radical as much as possible.
