The slope is defined as the difference in the y-values of two points on the line divided by the difference of the corresponding x-values.  Thus, our slope is:

(-3-(-5))/(1-3)

(-3+5)/-2

2/-2

-1

Thus, -1, or answer A, is the slope of the line.

slope is rise over run
to find the slope from 2 points you do
(y1-y2)/(x1-x2)
x1 means the first x, not x^1 and same for others so

(x,y)
(1,-3) and (3,-5)
y1=-3
y2=-5
x1=1
x2=3
subsitute
(-3-(-5))/(1-3)=(-3+5)/(-2)=(2/-2)=1/-1=-1
the slope is -1 A
