How did the crossing of the delaware help the revolution?

They were going through a really hard time right before the crossing of the Delaware. Many of George Washington's soldiers were injured and some were even ready to leave the army. Also the army really needed a victory due to the number of troops dwindling and because winter was approaching. Due to this victory it gave a huge boost in moral to the American soldiers.
