Solving for x,
(1/2)x-(1/3)x=1+(1/3)x-(1/3)x
(1/2)x-(1/3)x=1
(1*3/6)x-(1*2/6)x=1

(1/6)x=1
6*(1/6)x=6*1
Therefore, x=6
Flipped
(1/2)x = (1/3)x +1
-(1/3)x  -(1/3)x 

(1/6)x=1
*6        *6
x=6
