Well according to folklore and tradition in Belgium St. Nicholas delivers the gifts to the good children while riding a horse over the rooftops. There is also a tradition of leaving a carrot in a shoe for the St. Nicholas' horse who is called Slecht Weer Vandaag in Belgium and Amerigo in the Netherlands.
