The area of a rectangular portion of a national park is (48x^2+16x)square km. If the length is 8x km long, what is the width, in km?

Area is equal to width times length:
A = w*l
We know A (48x^2+16x), l = 8x. Plugging into the equation:
(48x^2+16x) = 8x * w             Divide both sides by 8x
6x + 2 = w

The answer is width = (6x +2)km
