What is the rule used for naming a binary compound composed of a metal bonded to nonmetals

There are three rules:
Rule One: the cation is written first in the name and the anion is written second. 
Rule Two: the name of the cation is the same as the (neutral) element from which it is derived.
Rule three: the anion is named by adding the suffix -ide to the root of the element name.
