The Nazis drew upon the emotions of the viewer by demonstrating the worst kind of evil known to man. The viewer would have to wonder how it was even possible for men (and women) to do such grotesque and depraved things to their fellow countrymen (and women/children). An intelligent viewer would understand that Hitler and the government had systematically planned the entire extraction and holocaust of the Jews but would have to wonder how and entire country just went along with such an insipid plan.
