Problem page the sum of two numbers is 36 . the smaller number is 8 less than the larger number. what are the numbers?

Let's say the numbers are a and b.
a + b = 36.

a + 8 = b.
36 - 8 = 28.
28 divided by 2 = 14.
a = 14
b = 22.
