Between 1930 and 1935, the Dust Bowl ruined 50 million acres of farmland. An event lasting for nearly a decade, the Dust Bowl was characterized by severe drought and huge dust storms in the Mid-west. This period is sometimes referred to as the "Dirty Thirties"
