Let the distance be x

Taxi A = $3.50 + 1.75x

Taxi B = $1.25 + 2x

3.5 + 1.75x = 1.25 + 2x

2x - 1.75x = 3.5 - 1.25

0.25x = 2.25

x = 9

Ans: At 9 miles, both taxi will cost the same.
