Distribute the implied one, making it -8=-x-4 then add four to each side making it -4=-x divide by -1 and the answer will be 4=x

Hello!

-8 = -(x + 4)

Distribute the negative

-8 = -x - 4

Add 4 to both sides

-4 = -x

Multiply both sides by -1 to get positive x

x = 4

Hope this helps!
