You can solve this algebraically

2x + 4y = 16

Subtract 4y from both sides

2x = 16 - 4y

Divide both sides by 2

x = 8 - 2y

You can put x into the original equation

2(8 - 2y) + 4y = 16

Distribute the 2

16 - 4y + 4y = 16

Combine like terms

16 = 16

This means that there are infinite solutions
