y= k x,

Constant , k is the constant of variation.

→→In the statement, it is given that, The acceleration due to gravity is the constant of variation.

→So,the linear expression changes to

y=g x,where g, is constant of proportionality.

→→acceleration due to gravity of a falling object= +9.8 m/s²,because the object is falling downwards,work is not done against the gravity.
